Women’s Day for Irish Writers



I grew up with this Irish Writers poster, not in my possession, but in my mind’s eye. Ingrained into it. It really was everywhere.

I do remember catching glimpses and vaguely considering it sexist. A thought like—you’d think no woman in Ireland ever wrote a sentence—might have crossed my mind. But, I never held onto those thoughts.

Until The Irish Times did a great thing. On the 7th of March 2015, The Irish Times made this downloadable .pdf [it takes a while to load]


Reflect on that. This poster was made for International Women’s Day 2015. Two thousand and fifteen …
